The weather forecaster didn't day anything about possible rain showers or sudden hail storms so Tim got the idea to go practice running on the track. Even though it was the weekend and track season was very much over, Tim knew he needed to do this. He didn't want his legs to turn to jelly and not be able to run efficiently. He'd seen too many track members forfeit their spot on the team thanks to laziness in the off-season and he absolutely did not want to do that.
The walk from his house to Peach Creek Jr. High wasn't that much of a hike since it was close. As he arrived at the school he noticed that there was nobody here. He thought there was going to be at least one teacher here to tell him he wasn't allowed to be on campus during the weekend. He guessed he was just lucky for some reason, today.
Tim felt something furry brushing up against his leg. He looked down to see Hockey, one of his mom's numerous cats that she'd collected over the years. This one was particularly weird though since he liked to gnaw on shoelaces. The shoes Tim had on now were already chewed up and the plastic tips were probably in Hockey's tolerant stomach. Weird cat indeed.
Tim continued walking to the track, Hockey shuffling behind him. Tim could feel his whiskers on the back of his legs. Finally at the track, Tim set his bag down on the damp grass and began to limber up. Tim was well informed that stretching was a crucial step to perfect athletic ability so he stretched for a decent amount of time. Hockey watched curiously while licking his front left paw.
Tim swiped his forefinger across the track, it wasn't wet at all. Perfect for good traction for running. He moseyed on up to a starting block and flicked the hair out of his. Taking a deep breath his legs contracted as he shot off the block, like lightning. He sped all the way around the track in what felt like forever. As he came back to the block he slowed to a stop next to Hockey.
"Mrrowww." Hockey mewed.
"Thanks for the compliment Hockey." Tim joked, wiping sweat of his brow.
